As a South African outdoor type living in the UK for many years (+12), when I started watching Long Way Round and Long Way Down around 2008, I thought to myself, why am I watching all this amazing adventure on TV from a cosy lounge in cold weather under cloudy skies, instead of doing it myself for real in Africa like we used to? It was then my wife and I realised it was time to move back to South Africa. We had had a wonderful time in the UK, met wonderful people and experienced great travel, but we were really missing the ability to spend lots more time outdoors in nature.

missed about Africa.

The idea was to come back to South Africa and slowly grow a small company following my passion and give others the wonderful trips we had experienced over the years around the African sub-continent south of the equator.

So that's what we did in late 2010. We moved back to Cape Town and started building up the company organically. So far so good. We have met wonderful people from all over the world and ridden with them or let them take the bikes and go based on recommendations on routes and their preferences. Long may we all stay young enough to continue doing this.
